Belcour Sorrel Chutney is a delicious Caribbean condiment that combines Sorrel with ginger, scotch bonnet pepper and pimento spice. It is sweet, spicy and tangy and addictive when served with cheese & crackers.
It is made with the red Jamaican flowers of the Sorrel plant, also known as Flores Xamaica. Sorrel has been found to have salubrious properties and is increasingly used in South America, the Caribbean and Africa as an ingredient in food and beverages.
A Belcour favourite is to serve this as a Caribbean alternative to cranberry jelly, an accompaniment to turkey and ham at Christmas time.
